"Horizon, open science and all that"
Daniel Spichtinger has been working on EU funded research projects since 2004. He has been involved "hands on" in proposal writing as well as dissemination of research results for several research consortia.
From January 2012 to January 2018 he was employed by the European Commission as a member of the unit responsible for open access to scientific peer-reviewed publications and research data. As of September 2018 he is working in Vienna, Austria as an independent expert for EU research projects & policy and as a specialist for issues related to open science.
He has a degree in English, media studies and history from the University of Vienna as well as a MA in Contemporary European Politics from the University of Bath, where he wrote his thesis on the involvement of civil society in EU research policy.
My key skills: team player able to adapt quickly to new policy areas, efficient worker with a strong capacity to plan, analyse and deliver on time, excellent communication and writing skills, solid experience in coordinating policy development and in interaction with relevant stakeholders.
I offer
Advocacy, analysis, screening and expertise (including grant writing & training) in the areas of:
(i) European research policy & programmes, in particular the Horizon 2020 European Research Framework Program and its successor Horizon Europe
(ii) Open access to scientific peer-reviewed publications and open research data (open / FAIR research data) policies
(iii) Communication, dissemination and exploitation of results with the aim of ensuring the concrete applicability of scientific results in the policy sphere and enabling the interaction with all stakeholders, including the citizens.
